Day 15 - February 14
We slept in today and made Kiefer breakfast. I made myself a Javy smoothie — I usually do it with milk, but our milk had gone bad, so I had to use water. BLEH. That is a strong coffee taste! I did get my 20 grams of protein in, but wow… that’s a lot of coffee flavour.
We drove into Coronado today to look at another unit at a much lower price point. This one was a two-bedroom unit for $160,000. It was very nice, but we want three bedrooms. LOL. I know — never happy! There is one three-bedroom place available at the front overlooking the ocean, but of course it’s rented and we couldn’t see it. The building was very nice (not quite as nice as the Westin), and right on the water, but without seeing the actual unit we’d be purchasing, it’s hard to visualize.
The roads were crazy with traffic. We drove on the wrong side of the highway!! They block off one lane on the “northbound” side and let southbound traffic drive on it. It’s like blocking off a lane on the 400 and driving the wrong way! We recorded a video because it was a bit nuts.
We ended up finding a grocery store and picking up a few more things. I wanted to do some more baking while I’m here, but it turns out there are NO baking dishes. So I bought a pie plate and a loaf pan. The peanut butter banana bread was good, but not enough peanut butter in my opinion. Next up: cherry pie!
We came back and just relaxed, looking at places online. Paul and I went for a swim in the afternoon, but there was quite a bit of wind today, so it wasn’t as relaxing as the other day. We quickly decided to get out, head back in, and start dinner.
I surprised Paul by bringing my Valentine’s bunting down here, and I had a card for him and Kiefer. I got a digital card from Paul and a small heart of Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Paul’s making salmon, and I did some roasted potatoes.
Looking forward to another slow, relaxing evening.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all our Canadian friends and family. 💜
