Day 6 - February 5

Woke up relatively early today, fed Kiefer breakfast, and got ready for the day.  We headed into town to buy a few more groceries and more water. There is a water cooler here that also makes ice, so it's super convenient for us ice-loving Canadians.  The site is still under construction, so they don't recommend drinking the water. Ensuring we have fresh water to drink is important.  I also want to start doing some baking while I'm here, so I need to buy some more ingredients as well as a loaf pan.  I realize I don't have a pie plate either, but listen, I'm not stalking this whole kitchen!

Driving into town was uneventful.  We did stop and take a few pictures.  The mountains here are just as beautiful as the ocean.  It's very lush and feels like you are driving through the jungle to get to the resort complex.  The road is absolutely horrible; however, we heard from a local that it's so much better now than it was.  I can't imagine it much worse, so that's a scary thought.

We did experience a slowdown that had us stopped for about half an hour, and once we were through it, we still didn't understand why we slowed down.  Traffic here can be horrible, and yet, for what it seems, for no reason at all.

We got to the grocery store and made it through our list.  There are very few people who speak english here so thank goodness for google translate.  We hand our phones over to people almost every day to type in what they are trying to ask us or say.  And we show them our phone so we can get our message across as well.  It honestly has been a godsend.

Groceries here are EXTREMELY expensive.  A water jug is $14.  A small container of cream is $15.  I don't know if we are shopping at the wrong places or if it's just that much.  We spent another small fortune again but hopefully we are good now for another week or more.

The grocery store had an ice cream counter at the exit and Kiefer requested some ice cream so we all sat and had a scoop.  This time I asked for a cone and it was really nice as it was super thin.  Kiefer wanted to eat my cone so I saved him the bottom of the cone.

After grocery shopping we found a place to buy a Starlink as the internet here is just awful.  I need to have reliable internet for court on February 10th.  I'm really nervous about both cases as both cases have been heard before and dismissed on the part of the landlord. So it's going to take some convincing to the adjudicator to get them on our side.  I pray we have a nice adjudicator.  I am speaking to one of the tenants council on Monday so hopefully we can stike up a deal.

When we got back from grocery shopping we had a quick swim in the pool to cool down and then went to the restaurant for dinner.  Kiefer wanted pizza.  KIEFER LIKES PIZZA!!  The pizza at the restaurant closest to our house serves a peperoni pizza with very little tomatoe sauce so Kiefer really likes it.  He was "forced" to eat some for breakfast the second day we were here because we didn't have an opportunity to grocery shop yet and all we had was left over pizza.  It was eat pizza or starve....LOL so he ate pizza and actually liked it!!
