Day 8 - February 7 BEACH DAY!!
I actually had to wake Kiefer up this morning at 9:25 a.m. to eat breakfast. Our Panamanian friends were coming to visit us today and take us to a local beach! We were very excited to meet them all, and Kiefer was especially excited to make some new friends. I think being here has really made him realize how much his social life means to him.
Tiffany and her three girls arrived around 10:30, and we hung out in the condo for a bit. Then around noon, we headed to the beach! We all fit in Tiffany’s van, so it was nice to be able to travel together. The beach was located behind a residential building and down a set of stairs. There was a restaurant where the “grown-ups” hung out (and had a few drinks — I discovered tequila sunrise!) while the kids explored the beach.
The girls found a hermit crab and tried to “box” him in by drawing a square in the sand. Unfortunately, after lunch we discovered that he had figured out how to escape. LOL.
The kids went into the water, no more than waist-deep, and Paul and I even dipped our feet in the ocean. It was cold at first, but then pretty warm. (the picture of us, we are laughing because a wave just hit us in the back, almost up to our waist!) It was, once again, another windy day. We found out yesterday that this marks the end of the summer season — but it’s still better than winter at home!
Tiffany and the girls came back to our place to go for a swim, and Paul and I enjoyed throwing the girls around in the pool. 🙂 Kiefer decided he wanted to stay inside.
Paul BBQ’d chicken, burgers, and sausage for dinner, and we had a nice meal on the patio overlooking the pool. The two younger girls, Arianna and Raven, decided they wanted to play in the park, while the oldest, Scarlett, and Kiefer played Minecraft inside. INSIDE, when we are in paradise. Their loss! The grown-ups sat out on the patio and enjoyed the warm air.
Once dinner was over, the kids played for a little while, but Tiff had to get going since her drive was over two hours long. I later heard that the two littles fell asleep on the way home.
All in all, it was a great day. Everyone is excited to reunite in two weeks when we get a private tour of their coffee farm! I might have to buy it with all the coffee I’ve promised people. LOL.
